Goodman Group (Goodman or Group), the global integrated property group which owns, develops and manages industrial space, is pleased to announce the launch of the fifth Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run, which will be held in Tsing Yi, Hong Kong on Sunday 6 March 2016.
Yesterday, the Group launched the fifth Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run
by unveiling a new ten-ton truck customised for its charity partner, Feeding Hong Kong. This follows the success of the fourth Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Rump
in March 2015, which raised a record breaking HK$1 million for Feeding Hong Kong, the first food bank in Hong Kong dedicated to redistributing surplus food to people in need. The Goodman Interlink Magic Mile
is an annual one-mile charity run, in which participants race up the 15-floor cargo ramp of the Goodman Interlink warehouse.
Mr. Philip Pearce, Managing Director Greater China for Goodman, said, “We are extremely proud to see the result of the fund-raising from our 2015 annual charity ramp run and to be supporting such an important local cause. We are, as always, grateful for the generosity and support of all the sponsors and participants and we look forward again to their support of Feeding Hong Kong at our fifth Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run
in March 2016.”
Sponsors for the Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run
held in March 2015 included generous support from platinum sponsors DTZ, ING Bank and Macquarie Capital and gold sponsors Allen & Overy, CBRE, Crédit Agricole CIB, King & Wood Mallesons, Knight Frank, NWS Holdings Limited and Savills.
Ms. Gabrielle Kirstein, Executive Director of Feeding Hong Kong, commented, “We are extremely happy and honoured to receive such great support from Goodman for our cause. This new truck will make a huge difference to our delivery efficiency and help us to rescue more food and feed more people.”
Feeding Hong Kong is a local charity set up in 2009 to collect, sort, store and distribute donated food to the community. Its prime purpose is to fight hunger in the city, while at the same time reduce the amount of quality food that is wasted. The organisation also works to raise awareness about poverty, food insecurity and food waste in Hong Kong, as well as to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition in the most vulnerable communities.
The amount raised from the fourth Goodman Interlink Magic Mile Charity Ramp Run
has not only enabled the purchase of the ten-ton customised truck, but will also cover its on-road costs for two years. A permanent parking space at Goodman Interlink has also been donated by Goodman. The truck will be used to transport multi-pallet donations, such as the donations of juice, cereal and bread which Feeding Hong Kong distributes to school children via their Breakfast Club food run. In addition to cash donations, Goodman staff also volunteer to pack and deliver food for the charity.
