Restoring sight

Fred Follows works in 25 countries and has helped restore sight to more than 2.5 million people. In late 2015 the Foundation expanded to Hong Kong aiming at reaching the increasing number of needlessly blind in the Asia region. Goodman is a Founding Partner of The Fred Hollows Foundation in Hong Kong, working closely together by initially providing much needed office space in Hong Kong.

The Foundation's global initiative She Sees, aims to end gendered discrimination in eye health and to empower women with sight, and is increasing access to eye care among women in Guangxi, China by strengthening gender equity approaches to implementation and provision of crucial eye health treatment.

Previous studies have shown that cataract prevalence in females is almost double the prevalence rate in males. In rural China, especially in minority areas like Guangxi, girls often do not enjoy the same access to education and employment opportunities. Many in the rural areas are treated as inferior to males and often have less attention paid to their healthcare needs.

All entry fees collected are directly donated to The Fred Hollows Foundation Hong Kong. Come join us for a fun morning with a good cause.
